Speaker: George Staikos, Staikos Computing Services

Title: Securing The Web Browser: Keeping The Phish In The Sea

Abstract:
This talk will outline, from the perspective of the KDE team, some of the phishing and security related problems facing web browsers today as well as some of the potential solutions we are investigating. For the first time in over ten years web browser vendors have started communicating and working together in a positive fashion to solve some of these problems, and we have hope that some working solutions will emerge over the next 12-18 months. Some of the areas of research include anti-phishing systems, spoof-proof chrome, and changes to SSL and the trust mechanisms involved in SSL.
