Title: Adaptive Challenge Questions Algorithm
Abstract:
We introduce the Adaptive Challenge Questions (ACQ) algorithm as a password
recovery/reset mechanism. We call the algorithm adaptive, because it
identifies the users by their recently visited web sites. An example of
an adaptive challenge question is "Which one of these web sites have you
been visiting recently: A, B, or C?". The web sites presented in each ACQ
must describe the online behavior of the specific user.
Each web site given in an ACQ is presented to the end users, as a
scrollable screen-shot of the related web page. The advantage of the ACQ
algorithm is that it minimizes the user's cognitive load by replacing
precise recall of some registered information with image recognition.
An online service provider could use the algorithm to identify the users
in the context of password recovery/reset mechanism.
