Abstract:

In this session Peterson will walk through a number of criminal enterprises from the rise of the spam economy a decade ago to today’s modern malware. A number of different criminal business models will be presented including pharma spam, web exploit toolkits, data theft malware and money mule rings to exfiltrate funds to international safe havens. He will deconstruct the online criminal enterprises and highlight criminal innovation including use of new interdependent business models to generate enormous profits.
