Abstract:
In this talk I’ll present the largest and most detailed measurement of online tracking to date. Measurement is a key part of preserving user privacy online. Our past studies have had a strong impact on the tracking ecosystem; I'll examine why that is and how our new measurements can strengthen that impact. I'll dissect several new fingerprinting techniques and show how we were able to discover them with OpenWPM, our web measurement platform. I’ll explore our methodology for detecting trackers and discuss new directions in our research.
