Abstract:
The proliferation of generative AI technologies has deeply impacted the online safety landscape, especially for at-risk users. In this talk, I will describe my work at this intersection through two case studies: (1) a characterization of the AI companion ecosystem, and (2) a trust and safety audit of a volunteer- and AI-powered visual description service for blind and low vision people.
