Differential Power Analysis and Problems in Applied Cryptography

Paul Kocher

Cryptography Research

A correct implementation of a cryptographically-secure protocol is not necessarily secure. Because cryptosystems have traditionally been designed by cryptographers and implemented by engineers, much of the territory between theoretical and applied cryptography remains unexplored. In this talk, Paul Kocher will present recent work with a focus on differential power analysis, Deep Crack, and general problems that need to be solved to help make cryptosystems that are actually secure and trustworthy.
