Dusk over Badwater in Death Valley. Badwater is the lowest point in the contiguous USA at -280 feet (-85 meters) below sea level. The highest point in Death Valley, Telescope Peak, is one of those snow capped mountains on the left.
During the last week of December, Imam and I flew down to LA to meet Ron for a week long trip to Death Valley, Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. We hiked almost everyday and saw a lot of really amazing things.
On the first day, we stopped by an overlook of Panamint Valley which is next to Death Valley. The rest of the day was spent at the Sand Dunes, Borax Works, Mustard Canyon and Badwater. It was almost a full moon and we went on a moonlight meander through Golden Canyon and all the way to Red Cathedral.
Borax Works and Mustard Canyon
We stayed at Beatty overnight and then drove back to Death Valley for a hike in Fall Canyon. We stopped by the ghost town of Rhyolite on the way to Death Valley. After the hike, we drove across Nevada to Zion National Park in Utah.
