The Place de la Concorde contains the Obelisk of Luxor. The obelisk is 22.83 meters high and weighs 230 tons and used to mark the entrance to the Amon temple at Luxor. It was installed here in 1836. This also happens to be the place where Marie-Antoinette was executed using the guillotine in the center of the Place.
