Mont St. Michel is on the north coast of France and is near the border of Brittany and Normandy. We visited Mont St. Michel based on the recommendation of a waitress in a restaurant and it turned out to be the best part of the trip.
Construction on St. Michel started in the 11th century and the interior is steeped with history. The mont is on a small island in the tidal zone and is linked to the main land by a short road about 1 km long. The road gets covered during high tide. The vistas and monastery are very pretty and I'll be sure to return here the next time I'm in France.
We arrived at night and drove out to look at the monastery.
