In the break between Spring and Summer quarter in freshman year, I went for a road trip to Yosemite, Death Valley and Los Angeles with some Singaporeans. It was immensely enjoyable and the high point of the trip was the hike up Half Dome. It was also an El Nino year which meant that the waterfalls in Yosemite were very large.
